summary of your experience in a minute or less.

Example:
My name is Tom Smith
I have a bachelors degree in Accounting and….
I have over 10 years of experience in Corporate Accounting (or position applying
for)
I was recently downsized, due to corporate restructuring
I am looking for a strong opportunity where I can leverage my experience
and provide value to my next employer.
Where do you see yourself in five years?
I want to be with the same company that I join in this job
search
I want to experience every growth opportunity the company has to offer
I want to continue to develop myself professionally and achieve at least
one promotion
What are your strengths?
List as many examples of strengths as possible
Be PREPARED! Do let the hiring manager feel like they have to pull information
out of you.
Think from the Hiring Manager’s prospective. If you were the hiring
manager, what strengths would you look for in the person that you were interviewing?
Examples:
I am PROACTIVE
I PRIORITIZE my work and meet DEADLINES
I am a TEAM player
I am SELF-MOTIVATED and work well INDEPENDENTLY as well.
I am COACHABLE
What is your biggest weakness?
Don’t degrade yourself
Example:
I know that no one is perfect but I believe that I am very good at what I
do. I have 10 years of experience…….. SELL YOURSELF!
Not seasoned?
Example:
I am a new graduate and my biggest weakness is my lack of real world experience.
However, I have had two internships at ABC Corporation and…… sell
yourself, revert back to your strengths.
What are you looking for in terms of Salary?
I do not want to price myself out of an opportunity… I
am sure that what ever you had in mind is more than fair.
(If the Hiring Manager presses for an answer) Speak in ranges..(i.e. Upper
$40’s to Low $50’s)
I know that you have a salary range in mind for the position. I would like
to be at the high-end of that range. By the way, what is the salary range?
Differentiate Yourself with Good Questions.
Remember, you can always turn the offer down. Do not ask questions
about Hours, Benefits, Flextime, Dress-code etc. during the interview.
REMEMBER: Differentiate yourself from your competitors by asking good questions.
The Hiring Manager will notice that your questions are different from the other
people interviewed.
Example Questions:
What type of person is going to be successful working in this position?
What are the characteristics of the individual that is going to be successful
in this position?
What is my greatest challenge going to be in this position?
(Sell yourself by giving examples of how you have overcome challenges
in previous positions of sports activities.)
What is a typical day at ABC Corporation like?
How long have you been with the company?
Based on our conversation thus far, do you have any concerns at this point?
How do you see me fitting in with ABC Corporation? Question Guidelines
You always want to have at least three questions for the Hiring
Manager.
Keep the amount of questions to a minimum. 2-4 questions.
BE PREPARED. Make sure that you research the company BEFORE your interview.

BE EARLY! Allow time for traffic
Go to the interview site before the interview so that you are not stressed
trying to find it.
SEND A THANK YOU LETTER. Get a business card of each person you talk to.
TRIPLE CHECK YOUR WORK. Look for spelling errors on your resume and Thank
you letter.
